  • Missouri Southern State College B.A. Chemistry, B.S. Biology
  • University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Ph.D. Immunology
Area of Study:

My research involves studying the penetration of drugs through the dermal and subcutaneous layers of the Göttingen minipig.  The Göttingen minipig is believed to be an appropriate model for human skin.  By looking at the absorption of model drugs and determining how these pass through the skin, the study may be expanded to pharmaceutically relevant drugs with the mode of delivery as topical applications.  We are presently looking at the absorption of salicylic acid (good absorber) and caffeine (moderate absorber) with detection by LC-UV.

Personal Interests:

I am married to my wonderful husband, Van, and we just celebrated our seventh anniversary in June.  Our little boy, Riley, is now 18 months old and keeps us very busy.  We are getting the hang of parenthood and we are amazed everyday at the new things our son does.  He is a wonderful blessing and the joy of our lives.

The fourth member of our family is a Shepherd/Lab mix named Casey, who is nearly 4 years old.  He loves his little boy and has to be close to him most of the time, especially during dinner time for treasures that may drop off the high chair.  Van and Casey run agility together and they are great fun to watch!

My husband, Van, works for Sue Lunte in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry department.  I am an immunologist in an analytical lab and Van keeps saying that he's "turned me from the dark side."  When we have time, we also enjoy playing with our son and our dog, reading, doing things outdoors like walking, running, and hiking.
