Area of Study:

The focus of my research effort is to develop methods to separate, detect, and quantitate pharmaceutical compounds using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). This research covers both environmental and bioanalytical applications. (I) The goal of the environmental application was to determine pharmaceutical compound concentrations in sewage, river, and tap water following concentration and cleanup using solid phase extraction (SPE). (II) The bioanalytical application goal is to detect metabolites collected by intravenous microdialysis in a rat after a sub-cutaneous dose of an esterified metabolite of cocaine thought to possess anesthetic properties.

Personal Interests:

I love running! I competed in track and cross-country in undergrad and one season of cross-country here at KU. Now I have been reduced to a recreational runner, but I still compete in road races like the "Brew to Brew". I have two dogs, Molly (a lab mutt) and Hundchen (a dachshund). They are very entertaining! I also like to spend time with my family, especially my nieces. I miss them very much since I only get to see them a few times a year. Last February, I got engaged to my best friend, Joel Moore, a fellow chemistry graduate student. He has been an inspiration to me and I look forward to sharing my future with him!
