BSc 2003 University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
Research interests
γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. Due to the non-electroactivity of GABA, direct electrochemical monitoring is challenging. Miniaturized biosensors have lots of advantages compared to conventional biosensors. Microscale sensors cause less tissue damage during implantation and a small amount of sample can be used for the measurements. I’m working on a project to develop an enzyme based miniaturized biosensor to detect GABA electrochemically.
Personal interests
I’m originally from Sri Lanka. I love to spend my spare time with my husband, Roshan who is also a graduate student and my two kids, Vijini and Themiya. I like to explore new places. Even though it is little difficult with 2 small kids, whenever we get a chance we travel. KU and living in Lawrence is a wonderful experience for me. I enjoy every little bit of it.
