Welcome to the Givens Group

This group was founded by Richard S. Givens, a University of Kansas faculty member. It is an international group of dedicated scientists who have special interest and love for excited state chemistry. Rich is the one driving that little red Datsun 1600 all over Lawrence, the one with the arcane license plate hnuprof.

Research interests included photochemistry, physical organic chemistry, phototrigger and photostitch. The discovery of new photoremovable protecting groups for rapid and efficient release of neurotransmitters, nucleotides, oligopeptides, and proteins is one of the primary goals of our research program. A second major thrust is the design and development of a new photoactivated cross-linking agent for lysine rich proteins.
