2011 Training Grant Symposium
The graduate training program in Dynamic Aspects of Chemical Biology at the University of Kansas spans the chemical/biological interface focusing on the synthesis, dynamics and structure of biologically relevant molecules and macromolecules
The program emphasizes the education of predoctoral students with research interest in the dynamics, structure and function of biomacromolecules. It lends formal to a functional interdisciplinary graduate study program in this area, with participation of students and mentors from the Departments of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Departments of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the School of Pharmacy.
- Overall, 39 trainees have completed the Dynamic Aspects of Chemical Biology training program and have gone on to careers in academia, industry, and government.
- Currently, eight graduate students participate in program, hailing from the departments of Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Molecular Biosciences and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
- There are presently 41 mentors in the graduate training program, spanning four departments and two schools within the University of Kansas.
