Applying to the KU Chemistry Department Graduate Program

Application Process:

Application to be admitted into the Graduate Program in Chemistry is made through the Office of Graduate Studies at the University of Kansas. To apply, click on the link below and follow the instructions.

Once you have completed this form, the Department will be able to access your application.

NOTE: you will be required to upload supporting documents during the application process. Please gather the documents below and be prepared to upload them.

Supporting documents:

  • A scanned version of the transcript from your undergraduate institution, as well as a scanned version of the transcripts from any post-Bachelor institution. If you are admitted to the program you will be required to submit an official transcript for every secondary school attended, whether coursework was in major field of study or not, for GPA and degree conferral verification.
  • Three letters of recommendation (required) – you will be asked for the names of your recommenders on page 8 of the online application. Once the application is submitted, an email will be sent to the three names you provide requesting a recommendation.
  • GRE scores (highly recommended but not required)
  • Personal Statement and Resume (recommended but not required)

    NOTE: to be considered for a GTA or GRA position, you must be admitted on Regular status. GTA positions also require at least a 24 on the Speak portion of the TOEFL test (8 on the IELTS).
